About me

I am a professor of Economic History at Bocconi University, Milan. I specialize in economic and social history and in historical demography. My research interests include: economic and social inequality; social mobility; the Italian economic trend during the Early Modern period; mortality crises (plagues, famines); social alliance systems and social networks. I am currently the Principal Investigator of a ERC Consolidator Grant: SMITE-Social Mobility and Inequality across Italy and Europe, 1300-1800. Earlier I have been the Principal Investigator of another ERC-funded project, EINITE-Economic Inequality across Italy and Europe, 1300-1800.
